Episode 3 - Jughead

Good Morning!

So I hope all of you got to see last night's episode because it was a good one. I know you're all thinking, "But Bridget, there wasn't any Kate and Jack and mostly Juliet, so how can you be happy?" Well my friends, read on and you shall see. Oh and I swear I'm keeping the summary short!

DESMOND

So this essentially was an episode all about Desmondo. We find that he and Penny have a child. Desmond awakes to find a new memory implanted where Faraday tells him to go see his mother in Oxford. Penny protests afraid of what will happen if her father knows they are back in England but he goes anyway. He gets to Oxford only to realize that the lab is shut down with no record of any Faraday ever having worked at Oxford. He finds a photo of Faraday and a young woman and a custodian informs him on what has happened. He travels to the young woman's home only to find her in permanent medical care with a condition. Her sister informs Desmond that she often wakes in different periods of her life and that Mr. Whidmore was responsible for their ability to afford home care since Faraday left after the incident. Desmond then runs off to find Whidmore and without giving him any updates on his daughter whom he hasn't seen in five years, he finds an address for Faraday's mother - Los Angeles. Mr Whidmore then urges Desmond to take Penny back to wherever they've been hiding. Desmond returns to the boat and tries to conceal the fact that he did not discover Faraday's mother. Penny knows he's lying and tells him she will go with him to LA because he will never be able to forget. She asks him to promise that he will not ever return to the island.

ISLAND
Back on the island, Faraday and his crew go to meet up with Sawyer at the creek only to find no one is there except some nice explosives who take out the unknown losties. They are then held captive by a group dressed in old US Army clothing. On their way back to the their camp, Miles picks up a fresh grave of four US soldier who were killed, three by gunfire and the other by radiation poisoning. They meet up with Richard Alpert and Faraday informs him they are scientists there to recover a hydrogen bomb that has become unstable. He ensures them he can fix it. He tells Alpert that he loves Charlotte so he couldn't let anything happen to her. Alpert informs Faraday that he was forced to kill the soldiers that showed up to their island. Ellie, an officer, takes Faraday out to look at the H-Bomb. He examines it to find that it is leaking and he tells her to get some lead, fill it, and bury it underground in cement. He informs her he's from 50 years in the future. Locke, Sawyer, and Juliet in the meantime manage to control the officers that attacked them. The two officers begin speaking Latin and Juliet is able to translate since she says she is an Other like them. When one of the soldiers is about to take them back to their camp, the one soldier snaps his neck and runs off. Locke doesn't kill him since he thinks the soldier is one of his people. They follow him back to his camp and Locke decides to approach while Juliet and Sawyer go off to help save Faraday. Locke speaks to Alpert who doesn't recognize him. He tries to explain the future saying he works for Jacob and that Alpert needs to find him in the future. We then learn that the young soldier who led them back to the camp is a young Charles Whidmore. Locke questions Alpert about how to get off the island but before he gives up the answer there is a flash and the camp disappears. Juliet and Sawyer find Faraday in the jungle and confirm Faraday's story about coming from the future when the flash occurs for them. They all end up in the same place and we see that Charlotte is affected by the time travel and she gets a nosebleed and apparently dies.

Okay on to the top ten!!!

1. So lots was confirmed in last night's episode! I for one loved it despite the fact that the Oceanic 6 took a backseat. The big secret revealed was Whidmore being on the island in the 1950s. This explains how he knows about it, how he knows all of the people involved, and I think it explains why some people were on the plane and the freighter. He obviously knew that crew had to be there so he organized that trip (remember how Naomi didn't understand why these people had to be the one on the mission?). Also it explains why Abbadon was seeking out Locke at various points in his life and trying to get him to come to the island. Seems he knew Juliet and Sawyer had to be there too ...

2. So I know that a lot of people might be getting discouraged by all the time travel, it certainly is confusing me but I think its adding an interesting element. The fact that they keep bouncing around is certainly confusing and some people object to it now that its for sure a science fiction show, but I think the time change keeps it interesting. Flashbacks were never super exciting unless there was some weird connection but things never changed. And the future is kind of depressing to watch but the present jumping around, you seriously don't know when they will end up and who they will meet! I honestly didn't see Whidmore being there!

3. Ellie - okay my theory with her is that she is Penny's mother. They kind of look alike and its possible that she and Whidmore could fall in love, they both look pretty tough and she looks a lot like Penny. My other guess is that she is Mrs. Hawkins aka Mrs. Faraday. But she looks pretty old so I'm not sure.

4. Juliet and Sawyer. Okay so we all know I don't want them to be together but last night I had a stroke of genius! If they got together, and Kate came back, that would be pretty unforgivable and then she would truly realize that Jack was the guy for her!! I mean, I wish Juliet no happiness on the show but anything that puts Kate and Jack together I'm all for! Juliet got some points for the "Others 101" comment last night, gotta love when the Others call themselves the Others.

5. H-Bomb. So this could possibly be the answer for the "incident" we've heard about in the Dharma videos. So Faraday wants Ellie to cover the leak in lead and bury it in the ground to render it inert. Okay well I'm no scientist (although I feel like one when I say things like "render it inert") but I don't know how burying a hydrogen bomb underground in cement will stop anything. I mean don't those things level cities and blow up concrete? But if it does explode then maybe this was the reason to set up all the Dharma stations and for Desmond to push the button to release the charge build up. I'm still a little angry with the idea that there was a fail safe button, that makes no sense.

6. Charlotte + Faraday = loooove. Hehe, very tender moment when he professed his love. But I think it was because he knew Charlotte's time was short and he wanted to let her know. So the question remains why is Charlotte the only one who is affected by the time travel? She doesn't have a constant? Well neither do Sawyer and Juliet but they seem fine. I think it has to do with her origin, like I've said I think she is from the island and that must confuse her with the temporal displacement syndrome thingy. But I will miss her and the love story between her and Faraday. Maybe Faraday will go crazy and become an Other or something ... not likely.

7. So Locke approaches Richard Alpert who has a strong love of eye liner, and asks him how to get off the island. Alpert is a little skeptical at first until Locke reveals he works for Jacob. Alpert obviously takes him seriously because he visits him throughout his life. This is apparently the selection process to become the leader but it seems like Locke fails a few times. So are we to believe that Locke is the new leader of the hostiles?

8. Okay so this one will be a doozey but stick with me. It seems like we have 3-4 separate groups: 1. the losties - survivors of Oceanic 815, 2. the others - post Dharma and post hostiles who lived on the island, 3. the hostiles - the original inhabitants of the island, and 4. the freighters - Whidmore's crew. The hostiles are the island's natives, Richard Alpert is the second in command of this group. The US Army came to conduct tests and when they wouldn't leave per Alpert's instructions, they were all eliminated (except a few who stayed and joined the hostiles - Whidmore). Somehow there is a falling out between Alpert and Whidmore and he is banished from the island. Whidmore comes back with his Dharma Initiative and there is a battle between Dharma and the hostiles. Hostiles win (with the help of Ben Linus) and take control of the island becoming the Others. The losties crash on the island and chaos ensues as we have watched for five seasons. Freighters under Whidmore's control come back to the island to take over. Losties are divided, some join the others and some join the freighters, another battle is looming. So we are ultimately still in a war between the hostiles and the freighters ... island versus Whidmore. I hope that made sense because that's where I am with the groups.

9. Penny and Desmond have a baby and it is the cutest thing I have ever seen! And believe you me, I don't usually think babies are cute, but that is one adorable curly haired kid. I mean it was to be expected ... but I almost died when they said the baby's name was Charlie. Adorable tribute! I hadn't realized how much I did love Charlie until he died haha. Sadly I don't think Penny has very long on the show ... Whidmore knows Ben is after her since Alex died and I think once they get to LA things will start to get interesting ...

10. MOST IMPORTANTLY - scenes from the next. Jack and Kate make out. Jack and Kate make out! haha I'm like a 15 year old girl but I love them and so they need to be together! I hope its post the group joining up to go back to the island that way when they show up they will declare their love in front of Sawyer and Juliet, muahahaha. Also in the scenes from the next, sounds like Claire is back! Is she dead or alive? Looks like we'll have to wait to see!!

Okay great ep, hope you all enjoyed and I swear if there are no comments you are all dead to me! JK - have a great rest of the week :)

Episode 1 & 2 - Because You Left & The Lie

Hi Everyone! Welcome back to the fifth season of LOST! I'm excited to write the entry after last night's two hour season premiere so let's get to it! There are two reasons why I will try to make the summary short: 1. I'm sure most of you watched it and don't need a refresher and 2. I'm really
confused haha.

OFF THE ISLAND
The main plot this episode was Ben and Jack teaming up to try and get the rest of the "Oceanic Six" back together and head on back to the island. Sayid, after assassinating someone watching Hurley outside the mental institution, grabs Hurley and escapes to a safe house. Waiting at the safe house are three men and after a brawl, Sayid manages to kill them but not escape a poisonous dart. Hurley grabs Sayid and heads off but not before someone snaps a photo of Hurley with the gun. On his escape he picks up an "I heart shih-tsu" t-shirt and finds a fan in the check out counter girl. He runs away only to get pulled over by the police for shotty driving skills. Surprise it's Ana Lucia, everyone's most hatred character from season two! She warns him not to get arrested. He continues to his parent's house where they try to hid them while they wait for Sayid to wake up. Hurley admits to his mother what happens on the island and she tells him she believes him. Hurley's father takes Sayid to Jack and Jack let's Ben know that he has him. Ben pays a visit to Hurley and Hurley ends up turning himself in to the police in order to get away from Ben, directly disobeying Ana Lucia's orders. Kate is visited by a few Lawyers (aka Claire Danes' father from My So Called Life). They ask for blood samples from Kate and Aaron so their secret client can determine the maternity of the baby. She freaks out and packs her bags. She receives a phone call from Sun and goes to meet her. Sun informs her that it was Ben who wanted the blood samples and that she forgives Kate for not getting Jin off the freighter. Prior to this, Sun had had a run in with Whidmore. He was mad she disrespected him and they bonded over their common enemy of Ben. There was also the scene of the "Oceanic Six" on the boat the Searcher where they all decided to lie to save everyone on the island. Hurley wasn't okay with it but went along with it, so did Penny, Desmond, and Frank Lupidus. And finally after Ben realized his challenge he appeared to Mrs. Hawkins (season 3 Desmond flashback) where she was in a lab doing all sorts of calculations and she told Ben he has 70 hours to get back to the island, and this did not please Ben. So in the end, Ben has Sayid and Jack on his side, Hurley, Kate, Sun, and Aaron all need to be recruited. But we did learn that Hurley was the key to getting back or else "God help us all".

ISLAND
Sawyer and Juliet were left on the island and meet up with the rest of the losties and the scientists. The big picture here is that the purple flashes keep happening every so often launching the losties and the island back and forth through time, and best of all is they can only travel through with the items they were holding/wearing and lucky for us ladies Sawyer couldn't find a shirt. Their camp disappeared and the frazzled Daniel Faraday was trying to figure it out while his beloved Charlotte was suffering from nose bleeds presumable caused by the time travel effect. John Locke finds himself with the others only they disappear once he time travels back to the time of Yemi's plane crash from Nigeria. Richard Alpert finds him wounded from his run in with Ethan the Other and tells him to remind him in the future with a pocket watch and that in order to save everyone he was going to have to die. Faraday meanwhile gets to the hatch pre-explosion and finds Desmond inside. They remember each other and Faraday tells Desmond to find his mother in Oxford. Back on the beach camp lostie is attacked by flaming arrows and Sawyer and Juliet are caught by old Dharma crew. Locke ends up saving the day. Needless to say the island is in some trouble and time keeps skipping backwards and forwards. We see Daniel Faraday appear in many different time periods, perhaps the most important being the past where they are building the island and Dr Halliwax (aka Marvin Candle, aka Dr. Pierre Chang) discovers the donkey wheel next to the magnetic anomaly.

Okay so I tried my best to keep it short, on to the top ten!

1. Wow, my brain hurts. I knew it was time travel but come on people! So the island is skipping through time. Something to think about was how the episode began, Dr Halliwax was in bed with his wife (I totally thought it was Ben at first) and got up to put a record on. The record ends up skipping which is exactly how Faraday explains time travel. But if you remember the beginning of seasons two and three, both begin with music from a record. Desmond and Juliet both begin listening to music. Small coincidence but worth noting. So Halliwax finds the donkey wheel that Ben turned to move the island at the end of season four. The important thing we find out from this scene is that Faraday found his way back to this time to presumably do some research. I'm totally cool with the whole time travel thing, for sure its been a big part of the show, I just don't understand how they can't change anything. Whats the point of time travel then???? Do you think Marty McFly would have gone through all the trouble of time travel if he couldn't change anything? Would he have had to get it on with his mother then?? haha probably not but I think Faraday was lying when he said things couldn't change and if I was Sawyer I wouldn't have accepted it so easily.

2. Okay so was it wrong of me to shout "Yes cut them off! Cut them off!" when the old Dharma people wanted to chop off Juliet's hands? I don't think so but Nicole and Sarah seemed to think it was wrong ... but hey, I'm not ashamed of it, she sucks!

3. Ben is amazing. Still bitter he never won the Emmy but there's still time. So he has these cronies everywhere working for him, people at the butcher shop willing to hold Locke's body, old ladies locked in scary labs, and lawyers to get blood samples from people. This is to be determined because I'm suspicious of Sun. She could have possibly hired the lawyers to scare Kate and put her on the run so she could recruit Kate to help her kill Ben. Sun has something to hide and her act with Kate seemed too fake. Also same with Kate, she asked Sun "What kind of person do you think I am?" Um Kate I think you're someone who blows up houses, robs banks, poisons people, oh and yeah, kills people. So was it really out of line for Sun to ask you that?

4. Hurley Hurley, he turned himself in. Despite that terrible horrible girl Ana Lucia's warning Hurley got arrested. This makes things a little complicated for Ben being that Hurley will now be publicly imprisoned. Gotta say things aren't looking so good for Hurley, looks like you should have kept your mouth shut. I'm not worried though, I think Jack will come to the rescue. Maybe they'll do some sort of prisonbreak episode where Jack breaks into the prison with the layout tattooed to his body and he seduces the prison doctor to get out ... wait, that's a different show. But this complicates things now that Ben only has 70 hours.

5. Nosebleeds. I feel like this episode gave me one it was so confusing! But we all saw what happened to Minkowski when he got a nosebleed. Sometimes the time travel doesn't take. Desmond had them for a brief time but he found his constant - Penny. Now I think Faraday doesn't get them either since he has his constant - Desmond. But poor Charlotte on the other hand has them, and I think it's because she's from the island. And Daniel knows it and he's worried about her. Because they're in loooove :) haha. So I think Charlotte doesn't have very long.

6. Frogurt. Haha I love when they introduce background losties. They know the viewers don't like them so they kill them off immediately. Neil Frogurt has a familiar face but he's just an annoying lostie with no purpose so he had to be a casualty. Gotta love Sawyer's nicknames ... I wish someone called me freckles ...

7. So do all six have to go back or it's the end of the world? Why don't Frank Lupidus and Desmond have to go back? Seems like Desmondo is going to be super important this season - he and Faraday seem like the only two who can successfully travel through time. But if he leaves Penny I swear to God my heart will break, can't someone just have a happy ending?? And what's up with Frank Lupidus? He was supposed to be the original pilot on flight 815 and what, now he doesn't care about it anymore? ps - I hope you all caught the very obvious reference to 815 with the clock in the beginning of the episode.

8. Sawyer and Juliet. Some have hinted to a possible romance between the two but I'm sorry, I won't even entertain this idea. Juliet does not deserve one hot man, Jack, let alone two, Sawyer. I hear rumblings of a supposed death of a lostie lady and one can only hope it's Juliet. Am I too obvious with my hatred of her?

9. Mrs. Hawkins. Okay so she is a character from Desmond's flashback in season two I believe. He went to her antique shop to buy Penny a ring to propose but she knew Desmond would never go through with it and that he had to go to the island to save the world. So when we see her again it was certainly a shock. Silly me I should have remembered that she would be important some day and as soon as I saw the little bit of white hair from underneath her hood I knew she had returned! But we're led to believe that she is possibly Faraday's mother. Now to counteract this thought, according to Faraday she is in Oxford but Ben seems to find her right after Hurley is arrested in LA. So either she isn't Faraday's mother (which I think she is) or she isn't in Oxford anymore and now works in Ben's lab. She is creepy and cool so we'll have to see why she thinks they only have 70 hours.

10. John Locke. So lots of freaky things happened with him. He was with the others then they just disappeared. I think this happened because of the same reason they never age - they're part of the island therefore immune to the time travel effect. But it was creepy when he witnessed Yemi's plane crash. And what is all this mumbo jumbo with Richard Alpert (who i love) and him telling Locke he has to die to save the island. Not exactly sure how that will pan out but I would like to revisit the episode where Locke is a young boy in his flashback and Alpert goes to see him and makes him choose certain objects I think they were sand, a knife, and a pocket watch ... all of which seem important. Oh and my favorite was that we got to see Ethan! He scares the crap out of me but I love me some vintage Others!

Okay so I hope you enjoyed some of the top ten list, hope it got your mind thinking and postulating about some theories and ideas but as always feel free to post your own! See ya next week
